Well, it’s that time of life when you are reminded of your age. This weekend Jo, my wife, and I were able to celebrate a milestone in life, a high school reunion, the 40th to be exact. It wasn’t my reunion but Jo’s.
Jo grew up in Orlando Florida for most of her school life. She lived the entire time in Pine Hills and went to the main elementary, middle and high school in the area. She graduated with over 600 others in 1971. Milestone.
This weekend many, several hundred, came back together from all around the country to meet up and share some memories of days gone by as well as, for some, make new friends of people they grew up with yet were not in the same social circles during school. What a difference 40 years makes when you have far more similarities now than when you were kids.
One story I listened unfold was between two guys who were best friends in school. They both went away to college and returned to Pine Hills to settle down. They worked in buildings separated by less than 200 yards for at least 20 years and never ran into each other in their daily routines. Now they are retiring and will live much farther apart.
In Jo’s senior year of school a family friend hosted a “Tea” to honor Jo’s accomplishments and invited all her friends to join. Before the reunion we circulated the pictures from that event of long ago with her friends. They could barely remember the event. The important thing is that they all remembered their dresses and shoes they wore for the event. Women 🙂
I heard and enjoyed plenty of really neat personal stories at the reunion but my role at the event was to take pictures, so take pictures I did.
Linked in this section is my flickr account where I’ve posted almost 400 pictures from the 2 day event. There will be some similar shots taken as backup shots for your choice. The intent for all the Evans Alumni linking to the pictures from this page is to offer a fairly easy access place to not only see the picture but to download them to your computer so you can use them how you would like. They make great shots for your phone or iPad and they will also make pretty good photo prints if you would like to print the memories.
If you would like me to provide them to you in a different format for your use please let me know so I can accommodate your need. I hope you all enjoy the pictures and should you have technical questions about how to download please contact me by e-mail at jmdavey@quakerville.com.
Enjoy
